Lionsgate is beefing up its international distribution with a deal with Belgium's Belga Films for distribution of Lionsgate titles in the Benelux region.

The new agreement covering Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg marks the latest milestone in Lionsgate's creation of an international distribution network, which includes recently-formed output partnerships with StudioCanal in Germany, Nordisk Films in Scandinavia, Alliance's Aurum Producciones S.A. in Spain, Roadshow Pictures in Australia and Metropolitan Filmworks in France, as well as self-distribution through Lionsgate U.K. in the UK and a self-distribution partnership with IDC in Latin America.

The deal strengthens an existing relationship with Belga, who has distributed films from Lionsgate and Summit Entertainment in the past.

"from Summit's The Twilight Saga to Lionsgate's The Hunger Games, we have partnered successfully with Belga on our big franchise films in the past, and this new agreement is a natural evolution of our productive relationship," said Lionsgate Motion Picture Group Co-Chairs Patrick Wachsberger and Rob Friedman, in a statement.

"This output agreement provides us with a consistent pipeline of some of the most commercially exciting films in the world, including the next three installments of the blockbuster Hunger Games franchise," continued Jerome de Bethune, COO of Belga Films.
