German home shopping channels are launching HD versions of their main channel. Pearl TV is the latest to start on the Astra satellite.

On November 1, Pearl TV launched an HD version of its programming on the Astra satellite at 19.2 degrees East. The channel, which broadcasts live from the EnStyle studios in the German town of Buggingen, came on air in SD on May 1, 2012.

The broadcaster follows in the footsteps of other German home shopping channels, who all seem to be keen to simulcast in HD.

At the moment, travel shopping channel, Juwelo and the traditional home shopping channels QVC HD and HSE24 HD are already available in HD as free-to-air channels on Astra at 19.2 degrees East.
