US media company Liberty Global is to now offer identical pay-TV packages through its two German cable subsidiaries Unitymedia and Kabel BW.
As part of the unification, Kabel BW will take over the bouquets Digital TV Allstars (€15/month) and Digital TV Highlights (€7/month) already offered by Unitymedia in its coverage area of the federal states of North-Rhine Westphalia and Hessen. In return, Kabel BW will scrap its own package, Mein TV.
Through the move, Kabel BW's customers in Baden-Württemberg can now receive several new channels which used to be only available at Unitymedia: RTL Crime, ProSieben Fun, Passion, Penthouse TV, Nautical Channel and Unitel Classica, as well as HD channels ProSieben Fun HD, Kinowelt HD and RTL Crime HD.
The HD option costs an additional monthly fee of €4 at both Unitymedia and Kabel BW. The customers who sign up for one of the cable operators' two pay-TV packages have the opportunity to combine them with pay-TV bouquets provided by Sky Deutschland.
