ESPN has updated its mobile app for Nokia Lumia smartphones running Windows Phone, adding live tiles for team and league personalisation, team panoramas and an enhanced user interface, all with video embedded.
"Our unique collaboration with Nokia continues to serve sports fans around the world with today's update to the ESPN Hub," said Arne Rees, vice president of digital media for ESPN International. "The update utilises the latest innovations in personalisation and customisation on one of the fastest growing global smartphone platforms."
The centerpiece of the update is ability to personalise the app's main tile-based home screen. Fans can receive streaming video, instant, real-time scores, social content, stats, game start times and personalized news for all their favourite teams.
Built specifically for the Windows Phone platform, the Hub provides sports fans with content from a dozen sports including football, golf, tennis, rugby, cricket, F1 and NASCAR, and more than 65 leagues such as the NFL, NBA, MLB and Barclays Premier League, across more than 700 teams from around the world.
The app is available in eight global markets (US, UK, Mexico, Brazil, Indonesia, Chile, Colombia and South Africa) and three languages (English, Spanish and Portuguese). In conjunction with the update, the sports behemoth plans on expanding to additional regions and languages in the year ahead.
