To help its clients upgrade their data integration processes and streamline the digital distribution of entertainment content by using an aggregated entertainment data service, the European Television Guild has established a working relationship with Rovi Corporation.

The two companies are working together to help broadcasters and content providers expand the distribution of their channel, content and TV listing information to a broad variety of new platforms, consumer applications and services, by offering professional services and customisation to individual service providers.

A leading provider of entertainment data and guidance technologies, Rovi collects entertainment data from broadcasters and content providers, ingests and enriches the information, adds it into its database of more than 13,000 channel line-ups, 4.4 million television programmes and 500,000 movies, and then redistributes the information for use in electronic programme guides (EPG) on cable, Internet, connected TV and telco/mobile platforms around the world.

Commented Graham Pitman, European Television Guild (ETG) chairman and director: “For both organisations and our joint customers, this is a very positive step forward in helping channel and content rights owners provide first class solutions, especially for EPG data and pictures, as well as working with many platforms. Furthermore, the ETG offers quality across services to Rovi customers, whereby we can react fast and undertake work effectively for them such as expanded distribution and marketing moving forward.”

Added John Moakley, EVP of Data Solutions for Rovi: “By working with EuroTVGuild, we’re making it easier for broadcasters and service providers to use our database of channel, content and TV listing information. Together we can offer service providers the ability to incorporate enhanced entertainment data on their platform and services, customize and improve their products to provide consumers with an easy way to find entertainment content and a better discovery experience overall.”
