France gets connected, with 41% using mobiles for Internet

41% of the French population aged 11+, amounting to 22.3 million people, connected to the Internet through their mobile phones in the third quarter of 2012. According to a new survey from Mediamétrie, the most visited websites remain Google and Facebook. Over the same period, 23.8 million people (46.6% of the French popluation aged 15+) owned a smartphone compared to 17 million in Q3 of 2011. Mediametrie’s figures take into account all connections to mobile Internet on the Bouygues Telecom, Orange and SFR networks, and also includes Wi-Fi usage.
