Thumbs up Please help this newbie, as I have no clue at all. :p

So i bought this complete satellite set from someone who left the country..
Even tho i dont have a clue regarding satellite systems, i somehow managed
to get it working. The set contains the following hardware:

    Dish 100cm
    3LNB's
    Sab Explorer CISC
    Chipdrive Micro 100 (serial)
Gamma card (not a clue what and how)

Now, as i said.. Almost everything is working as should, i am just
missing some channels that should be decoded by the gamma-card.
I am watching SD-channels only as the SAB can't receive HD-channels.

As I am a n00b regarding this stuff, I ask for your help.

    Some questions:

How do I find out what version of the gamma-card i have, maybe it's outdated?
How do I update the card with new keys? (or doesnt it work that way?)
What software do I need to get the chipdrive working? (win7 64-bit)

I have been reading a bit about all this but it really confuses me
as there is a lot of information but i don't really know what i need.

    BTW,
I got 2 more (older) receivers in this set that i am not using right now, are
thay worth messing with of should i throw them away? (Strong4375 and Philips6073)

Thanks for all the help you can give me! :)

    hi!
I do not know your location... but im most of western Europe the equipment you stated would be considered as crap
if you can sell all of it on ebay (except of dish and LNBs) and get yourself any card sharing enabled receiver
for you makes no sense having any hustle with gamma card ... because even few channels remaining have about one month life left on it (19e)

    thanks

    Thanks for the tip, some888

The equipment was set up for my mother actually (so its not at my own house). She does not have an internet connection so cardsharing is not an option for her.
The only thing she needs/wants are some (dutch, NET5/RTL8/VERONICA/SBS) SD-channels. Her neighbors have the same channels with a gamma-card working for
over a year now, all this on Astra 19e. I'm talking about the SD-channels btw, not the HD channels.

Probably my card (i think its gamma, the guy told me so. its just a plain white card with no text on it. how do i find out?) is outdated
or something because after setup we saw all dutch channels (NL1,NL2,NL3, RTL4) except for the 4 previous mentioned ones.
We are using the SAB explorer CICS with the card btw.

What i actually would need is:

+to find out if my card is actually a gamma-card or something else
+find a tutorial about writing new keys to this card, if possible without destroying the card as i have only 1

It would be great if someone could point me to the right direction.

it is a plenty tutorials..... but as I said earlier It makes no sense to have a hustle with gamma card.... because if I'm I'm not mistaken Canal Digitaal was scheduled to leave astra 19e from end of December beginning of January ( I think) and will broadcast only from astra 23 with no Irdeto (gamma)
if you still keen to make your gamma working

    • make your reader work in phoenix mode ( no idea how, I never came up with that reader before)
    • check that your card is gamma indeed
    • 3B 9F 21 0E 47 41 4D 4D 41 43 41 52 44 20 56 20 31 2E 34 9D clean or 3B 9F 21 0E 49 52 44 45 54 4F 20 41 43 53 20 56 34 2E 31 9D programmed ( I think)
    • get the gamma file from upload centre
    • get the gamma loader and programm your card
    • go to rtl4 and wait for update

just makes no sense to install anything for your mother for one month and sorry to disappoint your but days of patches and RSA cards are over.... if CS is not an option just get the official sub then

    thanks

Thanks a lot for answering. :) I understood from other forums that they are only moving the HD channels, not the SD ones. (i might be wrong tho)
