Sky Deutschland reaching milestones

The number of subscribers to the Sky+ PVR through Sky Deutschland has increased by 403% over the last 12 months.

A total of 584,000 subscribers signed for the product as of September 30, 2012 with new features including remote recording and a two terabyte hard disk option, which will provide increased recording capacity together with a greatly expanded Sky Anytime service, being on the way.

1,171,800 subscribe to premium HD packages. Net subscriber growth of 80,000 on the quarter and 124,000 on the year brings the total installed base to 3,132,000.

Brian Sullivan, CEO of Sky Deutschland, said while there was still more to do, this had been an important quarter for the paycaster. “We have achieved a number of major milestones across the business, including long-term agreements with key studios and sports rights partners, as well as the first positive EBITDA under the Sky brand.”

The positive EBITDA of €23 million was up €46.5 million year-on-year on revenues of 326.7. ARPU, the average revenue per subscriber, was up €1.47 at €32.16.

Sky Go, which in a short space of time has become Germany and Austria’s largest over-the-top pay-TV platform recorded 6.9 million customer logins against 1.3 million for the same period last year.
