German transmitter network operator Media Broadcast will expand the DTT line-up in Stuttgart with a new multiplex which will be switched on on 15 November 2012, containing the commercial channels Anixe, QVC and Tele 5.
DTT households in the capital city of federal state Baden-Württemberg will then be able to receive a total of 22 channels terrestrially. According to Media Broadcast, negotiations are underway with a fourth broadcaster regarding a carriage contract.
The new multiplex will be distributed on the newly allocated channel 25 through transmitter site Stuttgart-Frauenkopf using 20 kW signal strength. Viewers can receive the new services by performing a channel search on their DTT reception device.
"The investment into a new DTT multiplex in the Stuttgart region affirms our long-term engagement in digital terrestrial broadcasting, supported by market participants' strong interest in DVB-T," said Henrik Rinnert, vice president of the TV business unit at Media Broadcast.
"The launch of the channels is an important step in the expansion of the DTT line-up in Germany through further channel additions in the local multiplexes," explained Rinnert. "In conjunction with our partners, we will further develop DVB-T with new content and ground-breaking services and offerings."
