News Corp is to expand its UK content offerings with the launch by FOX International Channels (FIC) of a dedicated FOX channel as part of an evolution of the existing FX service.
Beginning transmission from 11 January 2013, FOX claims that its new channel will premiere “world-class” entertainment content and will be offered not just on stable mate BSkyB’s satellite services but also as part of Virgin Media’s cable TV bouquet. Content on offer will include The Walking Dead, NCIS and Dexter, plus new additions Louie and Da Vinci’s Demons.
The new launch is the latest in a recent expansion plan by FOX and complements launches and rebrands in Bulgaria, Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia, Greece, Russia, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. FIC now owns 14 brands in its European portfolio, delivering 105 broadcasting feeds via around 4,000 affiliate platforms to 290 million viewing subscribers.
Commenting on the launch, Jesús Perezagua, president FOX International Channels Europe & Africa, said: “The FOX brand is in the essence of our company. This evolution comes at a time when our brands are very well positioned in all markets around the world and also in Europe and in the UK. We expect the new branding to further our campaign of delivering innovative and quality programming to fans who love great television.”
