Local TV awards under review

Local TV services in the UK cities of Nottingham and Sheffield have been put on hold after Ofcom admitted to “small errors” in the award process. Nottingham’s Notts TV and Sheffield Local Television fell victim to internal errors by the regulator, leading to their re-examination, though it is thought unlikely there will be any delay to the services final launch dates.
A revised decision is expected to be released early this week.
The Nottingham Post newspaper is one of the partners in Notts TV Ltd alongside Nottingham Trent University, Confetti Media and Inclusive Digital. It plans to launch in April 2014 with an eight hour schedule.
Sheffield Local Television is backed by two city universities, local film makers and festival organisers. It is looking at a four-hour schedule, an hour of which will be news.
21 UK cities are in the process of being awarded local TV licences that will use DTT spectrum.
