Russia Today (RT) subsidiary video news agency RUPTLY has signed up live online video specialist Streamworks International to become its strategic content delivery service.
Under the terms of the deal, Streamworks will design, build and manage a video news content management delivery system for the Berlin-based news agency, as well as provide streaming videos to the agency's commercial customers.
It will supply software applications, proprietary hardware and platforms to RUPTLY to enable customers to access this new content. The information for this service will be accessible on the agency's website www.RUPTLY.tv. Working exclusively, it will shoot, edit and distribute video on a 'digital first' basis.
"It is always a rare occasion when any news organisation builds a new news-gathering and news-distribution infrastructure from the ground up, but it's even rarer for an outside service provider to be a part of that build," said Ray Mia, CEO of Streamworks. "Through this partnership, Streamworks is not merely providing streaming and video management services to RUPTLY, but will be part of its development from the very beginning."
"A partnership between RUPTLY and Streamworks International is logical. Streamworks has a cutting-edge technology that is changing the video news market, and RUPTLY wants to reshape that market editorially," added Denis Trunov, RUPTLY's managing director. "Both are staffed by television news industry professionals who never settle for anything less than being first. It's a natural match."
