Swiss publishing house Ringier is reported to be in the process of setting up its own TV channel.
According to the Swiss newspaper Der Sonntag (http://www.sonntagonline.ch/blog/727/), citing well-informed sources, the plans for the channel are in an advanced state.
The channel, which doesn't have a name yet, is thought to focus on entertainment and supplement the publisher's commercial value chain with news on celebrities and events.
The exit from pay-TV broadcaster Teleclub, which Ringier announced in September 2012, (http://www.rapidtvnews.com/index.php...-teleclub.html) was one of the last steps in the preparation of setting up its own TV channel, according to the report. The launch is expected to take place in spring 2013.
Ringier spokesman Edi Estermann neither wanted to confirm nor deny the information: "The TV business remains an area of interest for Ringier in any case, even following our exit from a number of ventures."
