Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle told reporters following the Mavericks' 101-78 loss to the Bulls that Dallas will sign free agent point guard Derek Fisher to a contract on Thursday.
Fisher, 38, has been a free agent following last season when he was traded from the Lakers to the Thunder. Fisher had hoped to sign with a contender but apparently didn't think his options were going to develop in that territory.

Fisher has a good chance of playing significant minutes for the Mavericks, even starting. Darren Collison has been heading towards Carlisle's doghouse, but Dominique Jones' brief foray into the starting position was even worse. With Carlisle's known trust of veterans, it wouldn't shock to see heavy doses of Fisher, despite his limited abilities.
This isn't going to solve much for Dallas, but it's what they think is worth a shot.
Oh, and Flop Watch just got a lot more interesting.
