Mark Sanchez has been unable to move the New York Jets' offense on Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals. Rex Ryan might have finally run out of patience.
Greg McElroy replaced Sanchez midway through the third quarter, drawing loud cheers from a sparse-but-frustrated crowd at MetLife Stadium.
Before being pulled, Sanchez was 10 of 21 for 97 yards and three interceptions. With Sanchez behind center, the Jets didn't manage any points against the Cardinals' strong defense, though Nick Folk missed two field-goal attempts in the first half.
McElroy was a seventh-round pick out of Alabama in the 2011 draft. He missed all of last season with a thumb injury. This is his first game action of his career.
Tim Tebow -- the team's backup quarterback -- is inactive with a rib injury.
