No. 5 Wayne State performs against DI foes at Eastern Michigan Invitational

YPSILANTI, Mich. – Wayne State showcased a strong performance out of its relay teams throughout the weekend at the Eastern Michigan Invitational, ultimately finishing third as a team.
The Warriors won four out of the five relay events, including three out of the four relays on Saturday. WSU earned 768 points, finishing behind Division I squads Eastern Michigan (1,165) and Oakland (1,042).
Wayne State won the 200 medley relay as the quartet of Sarah Maraskine, Kayla Scott, Alex Malfroid and Ashley Corriveau won with a time of 1:43.53.
The WSU team of Maraskine, Carol Azambuja, Kaylee Dolinski and Kei Cze Prentis earned a second relay victory Saturday, winning the 800 freestyle relay with a time of 7:29.60.
Maraskine again led off another winning relay team along with Scott, Kristina Novichenko and Azambuja. WSU won the 400 medley relay with a time of 3:45.84.
Scott also picked up an individual victory, winning the 100 breaststroke by over two seconds with a time of 1:02.43. Corriveau finished in second place in the 50 freestyle, touching the wall at 23.56. Malfroid placed sixth in the 50 freestyle (23.77) as well for the Warriors.
In the 200 individual medley, Azambuja finished fourth (2:05.39) and Maraskine earned sixth place (2:06.90).
Paige Kortman was the top diver for WSU, finishing sixth in the 3-meter platform with a 255.30 point total.
