User-generated video creation service Vimeo has upgraded its iPhone app to include social networking integration.
Users who download the new iPhone V. 3.0 app can shoot and upload their videos to Vimeo right from the camera, then share them through Twitter and Facebook, plus via iMessage, e-mail or link. The new app also offers the options of commenting, liking or adding a favourite video to the 'Watch Later' queue.
In terms of discoverability, the app makes the catalogue of videos across the Vimeo network searchable directly from Apple devices, while navigation is made simpler with the new tab-based design, including an Explore tab for showcasing new content.
Other new features include the ability to upload videos in the background without having to stop watching a current selection, viewing in HD on advanced Vimeo-enabled devices.
"Vimeo's high quality video platform continues to expand across smartphones, tablets, desktops, and connected TVs," said Kerry Trainor, Vimeo's CEO, in a statement. "The new Vimeo iPhone app empowers our users to easily upload their videos to Vimeo for instant sharing and beautiful HD viewing on Vimeo-enabled devices."
