Com Hem is launching a new cablebox specifically aimed at children.

The ‘Barnens tv-box’, a Samsung DCB-B270z, will be available in 21 branches of the Ica Maxi supermarket chain.

It will be pre-loaded with a 12 month subscription to Com Hem’s popular children’s channels Disney Channel, Disney XD, Disney Jr, Nickelodeon, Nick Jr, Cartoon Network, Boomerang as well as public broadcaster SVT’s own children’s channel.

“This is a completely new concept to sell digital TV and the product is designed to appeal to families with children living in a Com Hem’s house. The children’s TV box is suitable for both analogue households who want to give their children a better television experience, and existing digital TV customers”, says Tobias Bergman, sales manager at Com Hem.

The cablenet is likening the product to the pre-pay concept used in the mobile telephony market.

In addition to the children’s channels free to air channels will also be included; SVT1, SVT2, SVT24, Kunskapskanalen, TV4, TV6, Axess TV and Tv Com Hem.
