We're right back where we started with the New York Jets.
Third-string quarterback Greg McElroy has been deactivated for Sunday's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, leaving Tim Tebow to backup starter Mark Sanchez, the Jets announced.
This comes days after coach Rex Ryan contemplated starting McElroy in place of Sanchez after the second-year passer led the Jets to a 7-6 win over the Arizona Cardinals in Week 13.
McElroy took over for the ineffective Sanchez and completed 5 of 7 passes for 29 yards and a touchdown while Tebow nursed fractured ribs. Ryan this week talked about possibly rolling with all three quarterbacks. Now he's reverted back to the Sanchez-Tebow duo he's employed since the start of the season.
One man still paying attention to the Jets, legendary passer Joe Namath, disagreed with Ryan's decision-making:
"I don't care if Jacksonville is Tebow's home town," Namath tweeted. "I believe we have a better chance of winning with McElroy replacing Sancez."
