UPC Nederland will start distributing HBO Nederland on its network from Tuesday, December 11 in both SD and HD quality.

For a monthly fee of €15 suscribers will get access to the three Dutch HBO channels as well as to HBO On Demand. UPC will also add the HBO Go service to its offer sometime early next year.

“With UPC offering HBO, we succeeded in making our high quality content available to the vast majority of the Dutch population within one year of the launch of HBO in the Netherlands. We are very proud to welcome a large TV provider such as UPC as our partner”, said Jaap Bruijnen, general manager HBO Nederland, in a statement.

Mark Giesbers, director marketing and content UPC Nederland, added: “With this arrangement we can provide our customers an even more complete offer of blockbuster movies and TV series than we already do. We want to provide the best possible viewing needs for our customers. By adding HBO, we make another important step in completing this goal”.

HBO On Demand offers episodes from recent series such as Boardwalk Empire, Treme and Parade’s End. HBO Nederland also brings new episodes from recent series including Game of Thrones, The Newsroom and Girls within 24 hours from its original US broadcast.

HBO is competing with Chellomedia’s Film1 multiplex of premium channels, which consist of Film1 Premiere, Film1 Action, Film1 Family, Film1 Sundance and Film1 Series.
