Joe Vitt denies he wanted to keep Saints bounty program alive

New Orleans Saints interim coach Joe Vitt denied former defensive coordinator Gregg Williams' claim that he brushed off Williams' plea to end the New Orleans Saints' bounty program.
"We knew this was going to come out, and its a shame," Vitt said Thursday, according to Doug Mouton of WWL-TV. "I've already served my time, and I don't know what door to knock on, on Park Avenue, to get my reputation back."
In transcripts from the appeals hearings obtained by The Associated Press, Vitt, then an assistant, responded angrily to Williams' suggestion that the Saints abandon the pay-for-performance system.
Vitt was suspended six games this season for his involvement, but is now filling in for suspended head coach Sean Payton.
