TV application provider Accedo is teaming with leading online TV streaming service Viaplay to launch on the Xbox platform in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland.

The new media app has built-in Kinect motion control, so that users don’t need a remote control to select content they want to watch, they do it simply by waving their hands. It also supports pausing, fast-forwarding and rewinding, all activated by body movement.
Viaplay offers the latest TV series, films and live sports events such as the English Premier League, UEFA Champions League, NHL and Formula 1. The service is already available on PCs, smartphones, tablets, smart TVs, Viasat set-top boxes, Viaplaybox and the PlayStation 3.

“We are excited to help Viaplay launch the Xbox app in the Nordic region, and to play a part in bringing the first media app to the games console,” commented Michael Lantz, CEO, Accedo. “We are pleased to be rolling out our Viaplay service to Xbox users throughout the Nordic region,” added Niclas Ekdahl, CEO, Viaplay. “Given the company’s experience, Accedo was a natural partner to help us achieve that.”
