Gangnam Style makes YouTube history with 1 BN views

Whether you love it or you loathe it, we all know it and days after it deposed Justin Bieber's Baby as the most watched YouTube video, Gangnam Style has now racked up a billion views on the online video service.
The video featuring former mere leading K-Pop artist turned global phenomenon PSY has now been seen at least a million times in close to 75 countries with on 6 October 2012 alone more than five million searches for the song.
Assessing the commercial benefit to the artist, YouTube says that a number of assessments and projections say that Gangnam Style has generated over $8.1 million in advertising deals, and hit more than 2.9 million in song downloads since July 2012. Moreover since the end of November, the song has been bought on iTunes over 600,000 times helping to make PSY the first Korean artist ever to lead the US iTunes chart as well as being top of the pops in over 30 more countries.
