Minnesota unseats Boston College from top spot after 8-1 Mariucci Classic win

Jumping three spots this week, Minnesota is the new No. 1 team in the USCHO.com Division I Poll, unseating last week’s top team Boston College, which fell to No. 2 this week. The Gophers dominated Boston College 8-1 to win the Mariucci Classic title this past weekend.
Minnesota earned 35 of 50 first-place votes, while BC garnered five No. 1 votes.
No. 3 Notre Dame had nine first-place votes.
New Hampshire fell two spots to No. 4, Quinnipiac rose four places to No. 5, Miami is down one to sit sixth, North Dakota remained seventh and Dartmouth is up two spots to No. 8 and had the other first-place vote.
Boston University fell three to No. 9 and Western Michigan is down a pair to No. 10.
At No. 11, Denver is up three, while Cornell fell one place to No. 12, Union held steady at No. 13, Minnesota State rose four to take over the 14th spot and St. Cloud State is up one to No. 15.
Nebraska-Omaha tumbled four places to No. 16, Yale dropped two to No. 17, Niagara is down one to No. 18 and previously-unranked Robert Morris entered the rankings for the first time at No. 19 and Holy Cross, also unranked last week, came in at No. 20.
