French private channel TF1 achieved 88 of the 100 best audience figures in 2012, but this is a slight decrease compared to previous years when it held over 90.
According to Médiamétrie's yearly round-up, France 2 and M6 also appear in the top five channels for audience ratings.
TF1 closed its year with a 22.7% audience share compared to 23.7% a year before, while France 2 remained at 14.9%, and M6 increased to 11.2% (up 0.4%).
The biggest French audience numbers come mostly from entertainment shows such as Top 1 Les Enfoirés, which had 13.3 million viewers last March (53.2% audience share), format shows such as The Voice, and sports shows. The Euro final match between Spain and Italy achieved 47.5% audience share last July and attracted 12.9 million fans. TV Series, especially American ones like The Mentalist, also currently gain the biggest audiences.
France 2 improved its ratio last year thanks to showing the London Olympic Games, the magazine show Rendez-vous en Terre Inconnue, and the French presidential elections. M6's football line-up also paid off.
On a global scale, and beyond the top 100 audiences, France 2's prime time schedules also succeeded last year thanks to talent, cooking or adventure formats, including L'amour est dans le Pré, Top Chef, La France a un Incroyable Talent and Pékin Express.
