Sky Deutschland's full line-up will be available on Deutsche Telekom's IPTV platform Entertain from summer 2013, including football Bundesliga and Sky HD, following an agreement by both companies on an extensive collaboration which also comprises joint marketing activities.
Through the agreement, the financial details of which have not been disclosed, Telekom will ensure that Entertain subscribers will continue to receive Bundesliga live games despite its loss of the rights.
After Sky acquired all Bundesliga rights for pay-TV in April 2012 from the 2013/14 season, leaving Telekom empty-handed, both sides had already signalled that they would be open for collaboration.
Apart from the Bundesliga offering, the agreement, which runs until mid-2017, contains the pay-TV packages Sky Welt, Sky Sport, Sky Film and Sky HD to which Entertain customers can sign up for with the usual Sky conditions. Telekom also wants to continue offering a mobile TV service with Bundesliga live games and highlights in conjunction with Sky.
The subscribers of Entertain's Bundesliga package LIGA total! will receive the Sky Bundesliga package with the same conditions from the end of the current season until the end of the 2013/14 season. From the 2014/15 season, a Sky subscription contract will be required.
Entertain distributed Sky packages until September 2009. Both sides parted ways in a dispute after Telekom acquired the IPTV rights for Bundesliga and offered its subscribers with LIGA total! its own live coverage in competition with Sky.
