The San Diego Chargers brass is headed back to San Diego after three-plus days on the road conducting interviews for the open general manager spot.

The team had to rescheduled interview with San Francisco 49ers director of player personnel Tom Gamble for later this week, another sign that Gamble could wind up with the New York Jets, where he is the frontrunner for the job. The Chargers also had dinner, but did not conduct an interview, with Doug Marrone last night. Marrone subsequently took the Buffalo job.

The team will make a decision "shortly", according to the source, on a GM, who will join Dean Spanos, John Spanos, Ed McGuire and Ron Wolf in the head coaching search. The Chargers are sending consent forms out for head coaching candidates now.
