Aiming to continue its run of good form that saw a record-breaking 2012, Comedy Central has commissioned a 13-part authored comedy series starring Seann Walsh.

As she revealed overall 19% year-on-year (YOY) growth for the channel, with peak time viewing for 16-34-year-olds up 35% YOY over the Christmas 2012 period, Jill Offman, MD Comedy Central UK and SVP Comedy Central International Content, invited viewers to watch for the continued development of home-grown comedies in 2013.

The first of these is the commission for Seann Walsh World which will be aired in spring 2013. In the new commission, the award-winning stand-up will use his most known mode of delivery as well as viral content. "Seann Walsh is perfect as the face of Comedy Central. We obviously can't get enough of him and we're not the only ones," said Offman, commenting on the new series which she green lit.

The executive producers are Sarah Farrell, director of development and content for Comedy Central, and Andrew Beint from producer Open Mike, who added: "Open Mike is delighted to be making a brand new Seann Walsh show for Comedy Central. Seann will bring his terrific, boundless energy to this 13-part series and will really cement a great working relationship with Comedy Central."

Joining Seann Walsh World on the new roster will be a new series of Montreux Comedy Award-winning Threesome plus the upcoming Big Bad World, and The Alternative Comedy Experience - a showcase of innovative performers as selected by BAFTA award-winning comedian and writer Stewart Lee.
