Leading Portuguese telco and the country's second largest cable network operator, Cabovisão has deployed NAGRA content protection solutions to secure its next generation TV offer.

Owned by the ALTICE Group, Cabovisão currently serves more than 260,000 cable subscribers in Portugal, and the deployment will see it make use of the NAGRA MediaAccess conditional access and DRM offering to secure premium content on its next generation pay-TV service.

Commenting on the deployment, João Zúquete da Silva, director general, Cabovisão, said: "NAGRA is recognised as the worldwide leader in content protection. They not only provided us with the technology we needed to grow our business but allowed us to deploy our services to subscribers in record time – this was critical in helping us meet customer demand."

For its part, NAGRA says that the deployment will not only expand its footprint in Portugal, but also confirms the company as the leading provider of content protection solutions in the country, with MediaAccess as the foundation of security and multiscreen technologies for pay-TV.
