M6 could partner up for SVOD venture

M6's CEO Nicolas de Tavernost isn't ruling out the possibility that his group could find a partner to launch an SVOD service in France.
Interviewed by the financial daily Les Echos, he said: "What makes the difference in success is the size of the offer. The question is open at M6. And we could find an association, including with a competitor. This solution would be the best way to resist the upcoming arrival of international groups." M6 already offers an SVOD service, but TF1 doesn't have one yet.
At a time when international Internet companies such as Netflix or Amazon, have not entered the French market yet – although Amazon is set to do so next spring - SVOD is not really advanced. Only a few thousands households have subscribed to services such as CanalPlay Infinity, VideoFutur or FilmoTV.
