History to unify SD and HD in Germany

Pay-TV broadcaster History will unify its standard definition (SD) channel with its HDTV channel in Germany: both documentary channels will offer an identical programme line-up from 4 February 2013 under the joint name History.
History and History HD previously had separate schedules in Germany. With the move, the broadcaster wants to offer viewers easier orientation. Also, the documentaries provided by its partner ZDF will become available in high definition. Furthermore, the evening prime time programming slot will commence at 8.15pm CET, the traditional prime time starting time in Germany.
By the end of 2013, History wants to screen 80% of its programmes in native HDTV. The distribution platforms of the standard definition and high definition versions of the channel via cable, satellite and IPTV will remain unchanged.
