NAPTE: Oddities gets set for global export

CABLEready, the international television programme distribution and development company, has sold 250 hours of programming heading into NATPE, with 75 hours coming from the sale of Oddities, the reality series produced by Leftfield Pictures.
The series dives into the world of strange and extraordinary science through the eyes of the proprietors of Manhattan's Obscura Antiques & Oddities.
"As evidenced by our ever growing success in international markets such as NATPE, CABLEready continues to build lasting relationships with buyers all over the world interested in our high quality programming," said Gary Lico, president and CEO of CABLEready.
Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific has licensed two seasons of Oddities, as well as two seasons of its sister series, Oddities San Francisco. Networks CEEMEA has licensed one season of Oddities, while Discovery Networks Latin America has licensed three seasons of the show.
Meanwhile, Spain's Antena3 has bought one season of Oddities and 13 episodes of Deals from the Dark Side, the series that follows famous escape artist Steve Santini on a quest to find unique and eccentric relics. The channel also renewed seasons one through 13 of Medical Detectives and licensed season 14.
AETN Asia licensed one season of Medical Detectives, the long-running series that reveals how science is used to investigate some of the most intriguing real-life crimes and catch the perpetrator. And AK Entertainment (Korea) licensed eight episodes of extreme job reality series Nerves of Steel.
