US cable MSO Mediacom has expanded its Hispanic-focused viewing choices for subscribers of cable television with its recent addition of 27 Spanish language channels new to its line-up in Iowa, including in the Quad Cities, Clinton and the surrounding area, Cedar Rapids, Iowa City and Des Moines.
The new channel set, Canales Latinos, includes popular favourites like Discovery en Espanol, ESPN Deportes, FOX Deportes, History Channel en Espanol and others.
Canales Latinos is one of several Mediacom digital tiers, each with at least 20 specialty channels and available as optional additions to digital cable subscriptions (typically $7.95 for the first digital package). The 27-channel Canales Latinos replaces Mediacom's previous set of Spanish language channels. Company representatives describe the change as a way to offer Latino viewers a wider variety of general entertainment, movies, music and sports, including many of the most popular cable programmes watched by viewers throughout the country.
