Complementing the current capabilities on offer to its core customers, Time Warner Cable (TWC) has added fully-enabled, on-the-go capabilities to subscribers of its SportsNet and Deportes packages.
The feature is available not just to TWC subs but also to those of the DIRECTV DTH satellite service wanting access to the sports channels.
The result is that all network programming, including live Los Angeles Lakers, LA Galaxy and Los Angeles Sparks games, can be watched both in-the-home and on-the-go, making it, claims TWC, a "true TV everywhere experience."
Content is available not just on the networks’ websites (www.twcsportsnet.com and www.twcdeportes.com) but also on iOS and Android tablet and mobile devices via the TWC SportsNet and TWC Deportes mobile apps. The apps, available in the iTunes store and on Google Play, feature 24/7 live network programming and full programming schedules.
However in some cases access to on-the-go viewing is determined by television provider and is limited by geographic location in accordance with the National Basketball Association’s (NBA) and Major League Soccer’s (MLS) broadcast territories and other rules.
“Time Warner Cable SportsNet and Time Warner Cable Deportes are using the latest technology for on-the-go viewing because it is critically important to sports fans to be connected to their teams 24/7,” explained Mark Shuken, senior vice president and general manager, TWC Sports Regional Networks. “Our mobile viewing experience helps Time Warner Cable and DIRECTV subscribers be close to their teams wherever they go.”
