Canada seems to like TV everywhere: Quebec-focused Videotron is reporting that in its six weeks since launch, its illico.tv app for iPad has reached the 100,000-download mark.
The app allows Videotron customers access to the most popular programmes from many of its channels.
"Reaching 100,000 downloads this fast is proof positive that the app meets customers' needs and reflects the care and thought we put into developing a product that provides the best possible technological and entertainment experience," said Manon Brouillette, president for the consumer market at Videotron.
The iPad app supports all the illico.tv live streaming of channels and video-on-demand. Users can remotely programme their video recorders, view the full TV schedule and watch content from more than 40 television channels on the iPad. Videotron said that the illico.tv content available on iPad will be steadily increased in the coming months.
It also offers mobile integration. "In addition to watching their favourite channels live or on demand, Videotron customers can view their favourite shows as many times as they wish or tune in the wacky content served up by Canada's first mobile channel, Lib tv," the company said, in a statement. "With the illico.tv app for iPad, Videotron digital TV customers have an entertainment experience tailored to their needs at their fingertips. The free app adds a new option to the illico access platforms that have already been developed for the Web, television and mobile devices."
