Children's entertainment producer HIT Entertainment has appointed Turner Broadcasting executive Michael Carrington to the newly created position of head of content and production for HIT Global Brands.

Carrington's production team will be responsible for developing all content for existing HIT brands as well as developing new properties. He will be responsible for enhancing HIT's centre of excellence for content and development, reporting into Edward Catchpole, senior vice president for HIT Entertainment. Marion Edwards will remain as executive producer of HIT's brands.
"HIT Entertainment has been a phenomenon in preschool programming since the very start," said Carrington. "As a broadcaster, I have long admired the company for its creativity, innovation and sheer skill at knowing exactly what it is that younger kids want. And now it's got the resources, the ambition and the know-how to become bigger and better in a world where even preschool children are demanding great characters and stories across an increasing number of platforms. I'm delighted to be joining the team and look forward to playing my part in HIT's future success."
At Turner Broadcasting Carrington headed up the EMEA kids content team. Previously, Michael was Controller of CBeebies and responsible for developing some of their most successful preschool brands.
"Michael has a great passion for and unprecedented track record in nurturing talent and developing engaging programming for children. HIT's brand portfolio will benefit hugely from his experience which, combined with Marion's expertise in developing highly successful preschool properties, will make them a winning team."
His start date has not yet been determined.
