Japanese firms to launch TV channel in Singapore

J Food & Culture TV is to launch Hello! Japan, a TV channel exclusively for Japanese programmes in Singapore on 25 February on StarHub cable TV.
Hello! Japan will offer a variety of Japanese anime, drama, sports and other programmes 24 hours a day with English subtitles.
The channel's investors include Dentsu, Nippon Television Network, TV Asahi, Tokyo Broadcasting System Holdings, TV TOKYO Holdings, Singapore Media Alliance, Imagica Robot Holdings, Hokkaido Television Broadcasting and Shogakukan-Shueisha Productions.
After its debut in Singapore, Hello! Japan will be distributed to ten other countries and territories in the Asia-Pacific region: Indonesia, the Philippines, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Thailand, Australia, Vietnam, India, South Korea and Taiwan.
This will mark the first time that major Japanese TV networks have collaborated to edit broadcast content for distribution overseas.
