A new Israeli television channel called i24news is to be launched in English, French and Arabic this summer from its base near Tel Aviv.

Dubbed Israel's answer to Al Jazeera and France 24, i24 news "will broadcast news from the heart of the Middle East" through partial funding from Franco-Israeli businessman Patrick Drahi.
Frank Melloul, former director of strategy at Audiovisuel Extérieur de la France (AEF) and head of international development of France 24, will be its chief executive – as reported by Rapid TV News in November.

Content production will be the responsibility of Israeli broadcast executives – including Haim Slutzky, a producer for Channel 8 television.
Broadcasting from Jaffa Port, the new 24-hour channel will cover politics, international affairs, culture, sports and "much more", according to its website.
