BASE79 boosts marketing and creative teams

Base79, claimed to be one of Europe’s leading online video companies and the largest YouTube network in the Europe, Middle East and Asia (EMEA) region, has strengthened considerably its marketing and creative teams.

The company partners with leading video rights holders and producers to build online audiences and brands, claim and protect their intellectual property, sell premium advertising, and generate new revenue streams on YouTube and other OTT platforms. It says that it is now responsible for over 600 million global views per month and boasts premium content partners including BBC Worldwide, Endemol’s Tiger Aspect, IMG Media, Simon Cowell’s SyCo.
The appointments of Kate Walker as head of marketing and Rhiain Jenkins as creative solutions director are said to signal the escalation of Base79’s growth aims and the company will use the former ITV Studios and Time Out management to lead talent acquisition and creative content development. It says it will take advantage of the business gains from becoming YouTube’s largest global original programming partner and a multi-million pound investment from the Chernin Group.
Prior to joining Base79, Walker held a number of leadership roles within digital entertainment, most recently as head of marketing at Revolver Entertainment and has enjoyed roles at ITV Studios Global Entertainment, where she was head of consumer products marketing and Twentieth Century Fox. As head of marketing, Walker’s role will be to lead the company’s marketing and communications strategy, helping to position Base79 to new partners and increase the profile of the company. In addition Walker will oversee the brand marketing for the launch of the company’s own YouTube channels in the coming year.
As creative solutions director, Rhiain Jenkins will work with UK and international sales teams to develop Base79's commercial creative offering. She will also work with advertisers to create deeper levels of integration for brands through what Base79 asserts is its unique access to a network of premium YouTube talent and its ability to reach premium, highly engaged YouTube audiences.
