DISH TV, operated in Vietnam by the pay-TV group Canal + and VTV through the joint-venture VSTV, has decided to drop 21 international channels including CNN, BBC and Star World.
The decision follows new legislation, which came into effect this week, forbidding documentaries and movies to be broadcast without delivering simultaneous translation of all content into the Vietnamese language.
The French-Vietnamese channel is the first to react to the new legislation.
VSTV says that it will start carrying the channels again when they conform to the new law.
