Major Benelux company SBS Belgium has tapped Xstream for video management technology to support its new over-the-top (OTT) video service for online and mobile connected devices.

Due to launch later in 2013, SBS Belgium's new offering will include ingest module securing an automated ingest workflow, subscription-based video-on-demand (SVOD) and transaction-based video-on-demand (TVOD) solutions encrypted with Widevine DRM.
As part of the partnership between the two companies, SBS Belgium will use Xstream's MediaMaker video management system for the creation and deployment of the next-generation OTT solution. Furthermore, SBS Belgium will aim to simplify and manage its workflow, taking control of how to market, package, bundle and monetise video content.
The Shop module in MediaMaker will see use in supporting a number of commerce strategies either as a complete platform or integrated with existing billing systems. For each offering – such as SVOD, TVOD, premium SVOD, etc – SBS Belgium will be able to set up and create a unique marketing mix adapted to a specific customer and/or market segment.
"As a pioneer in OTT and TV everywhere solutions, Xstream is a natural partner for us," said Nicolas Declercq, manager interactive media at SBS Belgium, explaining the rationale for deciding on the technology. "We chose Xstream as our partner because of their long and proven experience of OTT delivery. Furthermore, MediaMaker is one of the most complete end-to-end OTT platforms we've seen in the market, including everything one needs to create a complete OTT solution like an in-built shop and payment module, DRM, ingest module and a remarkable flexibility, enabling us to integrate any third party systems to MediaMaker."
