Sami Boustany has been promoted to the post of acting CEO of Abu Dhabi-based high definition (HD) television satellite platform YahLive, from his current position of chief strategy officer of Yahsat.
Taking over from Mohamed Youssif, Boustany brings 15 years of experience in the satellite industry to his new role, where he will oversee the day-to-day operations of the company in addition to its strategic growth.
"Boustany's knowledge, experience and dedication will ensure that YahLive maintains its growth trajectory and achieves its objective of becoming an exclusive regional HD hot spot," said Shawkat Ahmed, chief commercial officer of Yahsat and chairman of YahLive.
"Boustany will be relying on the same strong team that has brought YahLive to where it is today and will be working closely with our customers and partners to ensure that YahLive delivers on its promise to enhance the region's satellite TV viewing experience," he added.
Broadcasting from Yahsat Y1A satellite at 52.5 degrees East and covering the Middle East, North Africa, Europe, and South West Asia, YahLive is a joint venture between the UAE's Yahsat satellite communications company (owned by Mubadala Development Company) and the global satellite operator SES.
"YahLive is an important element in the Middle East strategy of SES," said Deepak Mathur, senior vice president Asia, Pacific and Middle East, SES. "SES remains fully committed to YahLive and its development. We are commencing the search for a permanent replacement of the CEO with view to ensure that YahLive becomes one of the premier video neighbourhoods in the Middle East."
