Slovakiaís Council for Broadcasting and Retransmission (RVR) has granted Slovak Sport a licence to operate a second channel.

Local reports say Slovak Sport.TV2 will launch in a matter of weeks and its most attractive feature will be the Barclays Premier League, for which Slovak Sport has the rights in both Slovakia and the Czech Republic.

Slovak Sport.TV2 will be available in both countries, while Slovak Sportís first channel is expected to become a free service and only be distributed in Slovakia.

Slovak Sport was launched in mid-2012 and filled a gap in the market following the earlier closure of the Slovak public broadcasterís third channel STV3, which offered mostly sports programming.
