Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) France has announced the arrival of J-One, a new channel dedicated to Asian pop culture, on the satellite and ADSL platform Canalsat.

On the heels of the announcement by Paramount Channel on 5 September, J-One will be carried on Canalsat in the Panorama package and offered in HD native.

Also carried on cable via Numericable, it will broadcast the best in Japanese animated programmes in simulcast TV just one day only after their Japanese release. Series already lined up are Naruto Shippuden, Hunter X Hunter, Space Brothers. These will be available via the J-One smartphone app which already can be downloaded for free for iTunes and Android.

The channel will also launch with a range of content including news and magazine programmes looking at Japanese culture and trends, game shows, reality series including the Shibuhara Girls and the best J-Pop and K-Pop music videos. Japanese MTV Unplugged concerts and award ceremonies such as the VMAJs, in partnership with MTV Asia, are also on its agenda.

J-One partners with VIMN's online Japanese pop culture and music portal MTV 81, an English-language digital destination that showcases Japanese music and pop culture to an international audience. Its line-up is selected by MTV Japan.

As with Paramount Channel, J-One programmes will be available on catch-up on Canalsat on-demand.

J-One will also be carried on cable in Numericable's offer.
