Univision hits 10 million viewers and tops US audience

The latest edition of the music awards Premios Juventud has meant success for the Latin US channel Univision. By reaching a total of over 10 million viewers, the programme went to the top of the viewing figures for the night, ahead of ABC, NBC and Fox.
On average, the three-hour broadcast reached 5 million viewers, according to the Nielsen Company data presented by Univision.
For the sixth consecutive year Univision led the prime-time with the young music celebrities. This year, the event also attracted more US Hispanic viewers in the demographic groups of total viewers 2+, adults aged 18-49, adults aged 18-34 and the 12-34 age group.
Among adults aged 18-49 Univision got 24% more viewers than CBS, while in the 18-34 age group the channel beat Fox with a 52% advantage.
Social media integration also contributed to Univision's success. Regardless of language, the channel topped the social audience on Thursday. Premios Juventud and the special programming Noche de Estrellas garnered 1.5 million social interactions. According to SocialGuide data, 40% of all TV-related tweets on the night were about Univisionís event.
