French PSB group France Télévisions (FTV) has upped its stake in TV5Monde to 49%, after taking over shares formerly owned by l'Audiovisuel extérieur de la France (AEF), the holding company of France 24 and RFI.
The French Ministry of Culture has approved the cession to FTV by AEF of 36.42% of the French-speaking international channel for €446,000.
TV5Monde was formerly owned 49% by AEF while France Télévisions had 12.58%.
The rest of the stakes are shared between all TV5Monde's francophone partners: RTBF in Belgium, SSR in Switzerland, Radio-Canada and Télé Québec, along with Arte France and INA.
The share of TV5Monde owned by AEF since its creation in 2009 used to belong to France Télévisions.
AEF changed its name from France Médias Monde in June.
