SatLink will provide Fashion TV with full HD playout services and digital archiving from its centre in Tel Aviv, Israel, and uplinking to AsiaSat-5 satellite located at 100.5 East to broadcast to Asia-Pacific mass markets including India, China and Indonesia.
It operates two full C-band transponders on AsiaSat 5, a cost-effective DVB-S2 MCPC platform, which delivers higher throughput and greater bandwidth efficiency, and a DVB-S platform that enables customers to benefit from high quality content contribution and distribution solutions to the Asia Pacific region.
SatLink will provide fully managed services including graphics, multi-language crawls, subtitles and commercials insertion adjusted to Fashion TV’s Asian audience. It will also provide Real-Time Messaging Protocol (RTMP) streaming to YouTube as well as encryption services using a Viaccess system.
Fashion TV broadcasts worldwide across 530 different TV platforms, including mobile and IPTV, as well as via its YouTube channel.
Michel Adam, president & founder of Fashion TV, said: “Expanding our distribution reach into the Asian region means that we needed to work with a partner and satellite provider that we trust implicitly to deliver a seamless and reliable service to our audience in Asia.
"SatLink’s expertise and experience in playout and satellite distribution services for international broadcasters, such as Fashion TV, means that we know we are getting a high level of service. More significantly, we needed a partner that could provide the localisation of our content, be our satellite gateway to Asia and help us reach our viewers also via the Internet over YouTube. These innovative and comprehensive services have been instrumental for us in selecting SatLink as our partner as we look to deliver rich media content across the Asia-Pacific.”
David Hochner, CEO of SatLink Communications, said: “We are delighted to be providing TV localisation services, HD playout, satellite and Internet distribution services to Fashion TV as they extend their penetration into the Asian market. We are providing that crucial bridge between the East and West and enabling broadcasters, such as Fashion TV, the ability to penetrate this rapidly growing market from our strategic location, bordering three continents. Using our global end-to-end broadcasting services, we will continue to provide this gateway both in and out of Asia on the region’s premium satellite platform.”
