New Zealand's TV3 will screen the new drama series The Blacklist, starring James Spader, as part of a new partnership between MediaWorks and Sony Pictures Television.
MediaWorks TV director of programming, Mark Caulton, said: “The Blacklist created some of the biggest buzz at this year’s LA Screenings, and will be a fantastic addition to TV3’s primetime line-up.
“We are thrilled to have secured this stand-out show for our viewers, along with a number of other terrific series from Sony Pictures Television which will screen across TV3 and FOUR.”
The Sony Pictures Television deal gives MediaWorks TV exclusive New Zealand broadcast rights for several new television shows.
As well as The Blacklist, it will screen sitcom The Michael J Fox Show, drama series Rake starring Greg Kinnear and House of Cards starring Kevin Spacey, and Us & Them, an American remake of the UK comedy series Gavin and Stacey.
Mark Young, senior vice president, distribution and sales, Australia & New Zealand, for SPT said: “Sony Pictures Television offers one of the largest content libraries in the world, which includes some of the most anticipated new series of the upcoming TV season. We have worked closely with Mediaworks to bring New Zealand viewers a strong slate of programming that features award winning talent and compelling storytelling across a variety of genres.”
Some of the new Sony Pictures content is expected to screen on TV3 and FOUR later this year, with other programmes premiering as part of MediaWorks’ new season line-up in 2014.
