With the stock of original content for online video and OTT services never higher, Amazon Studios has an announced an expansion of its own slate of such programming.
Following what it says is a positive response to its first set of TV pilots, Amazon will produce five more original pilots for kids, including the first pilots for ages 6-11, to stream on Amazon Instant Video and LOVEFiLM in theUK. The service provider says that it will actively solicit viewer feedback to help determine which shows should be produced as series.
The new pilots come from Emmy Award-winning creators as well as aHollywoodnewcomer discovered though Amazon Studios’ open-door submission process. They join established Amazon Originals shows such as Annebots, Creative Galaxy and Tumbleaf which are already in full series production. Since its launch in November 2010, more than 18,000 film scripts and 4,000 series projects have been submitted to Amazon Studios. There are currently 26 movies and 24 series on the development slate and in the processes of being tested with audiences.

After the success of our first pilots, we look forward to getting lots more fantastic feedback from kids and parents,” commented Roy Price, director of Amazon Studios. “For the first time we are offering live action and animated programming for older children and continuing with entertaining, educational programming for preschool aged children — it’s going to be a lot of fun.”
