German pay-TV broadcaster Sky Deutschland is now offering its sports news channel Sky Sport News HD as an app for mobile devices.
With the service, sports fans in Germany and Austria can keep up to date on the developments in the world of sports while on the go without a conventional pay-TV subscription.
The app, which

provides a mixture of free and subscription-based content such as sports news, a video and audio live stream of Sky Sport News HD, highlight clips, short articles and a news alert service covering football, tennis, Formula 1, golf, US sports, volleyball, winter sports and the Olympic Games.

Through the live stream, football fans can see all goals from the current games of the Bundesliga, DFB Cup and UEFA Champions League immediately after the match is over. The integrated data centre offers background information and statistics while the live planner ensures that no sports event on Sky is missed.
The app, which is initially available for the iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch, can be downloaded free of charge from the iTunes App Store. Further platforms will follow. Access to the premium section with the video and audio live stream of Sky Sport News HD and sports videos costs €4.49 per month.
